Standards-based Architecture
-
Extensible Markup Language (XML)
Originally designed to meet the challenges of large-scale electronic publishing, XML is also playing an increasingly important role in the exchange of a wide variety of data on the Web and elsewhere. -
Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
A lightweight protocol intended for exchanging structured information in a decentralized, distributed environment. -
Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI)
UDDI creates a standard interoperable platform that enables companies and applications to quickly, easily, and dynamically find and use Web services over the Internet. -
WS-Security
WS-Security (Web Services Security) is a communications protocol providing a means for applying security to Web Services. -
Extensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML)
XHTML Family document types are all XML-based, and ultimately are designed to work in conjunction with XML-based user agents. -
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
A simple mechanism for adding style (e.g. fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents. -
Section 508
Section 508 is an accessibility standard ensuring individuals with disabilities access to information.
-
Presentation Layer
The presentation layer is completely separated from the application and data layers utilizing a true M.V.C (Model View Control) architecture. Our design philosophy was to promote the strict use of standards within the User Interface (UI) eliminating browser compatibility issues and ensuring governance at the presentation layer.
-
Application Layer
The application layer utilizes XML and Java to perform the various functions and requests made from both machine and User Interface (UI) processes. The Apache projects Tomcat, Axis and Cocoon have been integrated to provide a feature rich yet standards-based platform for deploying Web Services. eSigma has integrated and enhanced the code-base for the Apache projects, releasing them back to the Open Source community.
-
Data Layer
The Data layer stores both information about the service and the Meta Data that relates to the business service. The UDDI registry utilizes a SQL 2003 compliant database management platform for storing both technical and user data about any given Web Service. The Data layer can be syndicated in real-time, and clustered depending on your processing requirements.
